cannot find run command on start menu

cannot find run command on start menu
hi, please can you help me find run on the start menu. in xp i could click on start then run and type in something like calc to start the calculator. i just installed vista and cannot find it.

Hi fred,

thanks for joining up.

The Run menu option in the Start Menu is still there but probably disabled.

To get it back, do the following.

1. Right Click on the Start Button.
2. Select Properties
3. Select Customize.
4. On the Customize Start Menu screen tick the Run command option.

Now you should find the Run menu option exactly where it used to be with XP.

you can also use the windows key on your keyboard. Hold down the windows key and then press R on your keyboard.

if you are using the new start menu (not the classic) the run bar is right there at the bottom. It doubles as a search bar.

such as to run regedit, you would hit the windows key to bring up the start menu then just type regedit.
