Network provider name
I am having trouble sharing a printer that is wired (USB) to a Win 7 desktop, from a Vista Home basic laptop. The laptop can browse the internet but cannot access the printer. The desktop can access files on the laptop but the reverse does not work.
The internal wireless adapter became unreliable some time ago and was replaced with an ASUS external USB unit. It too died and has been replaced with a Realtek USB adapter.
I get the error that the "network provider name is invalid." One previous post in 2010 said to install the microsoft client in the adapter, but with no explanation how exactly that is done.
I can get the original and Realtek adapter to both run at once or separately but it apparently makes no difference.
Any advice?
