Vista Black Screen after boot, No mouse!

Hey everyone

Today whilst I was using my computer, all of a sudden everything went weird, and the mouse froze as the click hand, I could move the mouse but clicking wouldn't work and nothing could be changed on the screen. So I force shut down to reboot it, whilst rebooting the computer after just finishing the load bar that says Microsoft Corporation or something on it, it just goes black. It looks as though the mouse and key board disconnect as none of the lights work, and then I am left looking at my monitor as it displays nothing but black. I am currently writing this on safe mode (with networking) where everything works fine.

Also upon start up, there is a point for like a second or 2 where the screen is black with dollar signs ('$') everywhere, also if I go into set up, a lot of the spelling is wrong, as though some letters have been changed.

Any help would be much appreciated!
