Error code 12

Hi y'all,

I can't access the internet through my wireless connection and this error code shows:

Error code 12: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device you will need to disable one of the other devices on the system.

So far I have I have opened device manager, clicked on the devices and I have no "troubleshoot" function but I have a button saying "check for solutions" (vista). When I press this another dialog box flashes up very briefly then disappears and nothing happens. Should the solution checker start at this point? If so, any idea why its not doing so?

I've tried installing the latest updates available from windows update but because of the problem with my realtek device and lack of internet connection I am unable to perform this update. Does it need internet access to complete the update? Is there any way round this?
