color bit changing

When I launch Corel PhotoImpact X3 the color changes to 8 bit. And after it loads it changes back to 8 bit when I do anything associated with a file on my computer. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it with no sucess. How can i force and/or lock the color to 32 bits.
