Windows Installer problem frustrating!!!
My OS is Vista Home Basic Service pack 2
It all started when Windows automatic update prompted to
"Install Updates for your computer"
- Update for Microsoft Silverlight (KB979202) fails to install -
Error Code 641
So, I attempted to uninstall MS Silverlight in the control panel and Prgrams and Features. The result -
- "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your......"
I thus accessed "Service" and checked the Windows Installer by manually attempting to "start" it. The result -
- "Windows could not start the Windows Installer service on Local Computer. Error 193: 0xc1"
I've investigated other threads but have not found a working soultion for this problem. HELP!!
