Deleted File Weirdness
I just finished doing a remote support session with someone on Vista Home Basic SP2 (the logged in user was an Administrator).
When I logged in I installed an application into the C:\Program Files\MyApplication folder. It then became necessary to delete the INI file that the program created in the install folder. Using Explorer I navigated to the location and deleted the file. It disappeared from the pane. I then restarted the application and, lo and behold!, the program read from the INI file I was certain I deleted. It HAD to be reading from that file because there was only one place the information it displayed was housed; i.e. that INI file. I made sure Explorer was set to show hidden folders, invisible files, etc. but STILL, using Explorer to examine the install folder there was no INI file shown (whether you counted extensions or not).
I am absolutely STUMPED.
Is this something that has happened to anyone else? I searched for Vista invisible file, Vista deleted files, etc., but just got info on Folder options.
Thanks in advance for any info.
