update issues

Hey guys, when i restart my computer, vista installs updates and then configures them and then restarts to a blank screen with a flashings cursor. The only wait to get off this screen is to shut off the computer then turn it on BUT then it says updates were not configured and that they are being reverted.
This happens every time i just want to do a plain restart. Any help is appreciated.

I am using windows vista basic home

Is your windows bundled or did you buy it separately? This makes a difference.

I fixed the problem by reformatting my computer, thanks for the reply.
