Multiple Issues

Issue 1: Skype will not connect
Issue 2: Firefox will not connect
Issue 3: Adaware will not connect
Note: have tried all these with the firewall from Norton Internet Security completely turned off
Issue 4: IE8 will only connect as long as we do not install any security updates. As soon as we install one (doesn't matter which one), IE does not connect to the internet
Issue 5: uninstalled IE8....IE7 no longer connects to the internet
Issue 6: re-installed IE8, now it will not open web page in new tabs or in new window (but that was working before the uninstall)

Have looked on the internet and tried just about everything, including the addons suggestion and the 3rd party software suggestions for the IE8 tabs issue. Afraid to upgrade to 7 cos I found someone who still has the tabs issue after the upgrade.

This is a good one. Suggestions would be appreciated and I am sure interesting. Please don't suggest something unless you really have a good idea as I am tired of going on route marches to solve these issues. I do not expect all this issues to be solved, one at least one would be nice. I've been searching around for about a week and can't solve even one.

Issue resolved. I am only posting this because I have been frustrated in the past with people getting resolution and not sharing it.

Although I had completely turned off all features of Norton Internet Security, I tried uninstalling it and that resolved all the issues. I contacted Norton and they worked with my machine to install an upgrade and as simple as that, everything I stated in my first post was resolved, including the tabs that would not open.

I hope this helps someone having a similar issue. 3rd party software could be causing your issue.

I recently got myself home basic.
I do not have any disk partition and use only c-drive. I applied "show hidden files" settings to all folders and saw that these are duplicate files( compressed ) and empty folders for every picture, movie clip, song etc that are in folder present in users.
so i deleted all the duplicate hidden files.now when I copy any file to users(computer/c-drive/users/vipul/pictures) etc, automatically corresponding duplicate hidden files get created.this is only happening "users" and not anywhrer else. I have original antivirus s/w n there is no virus as well. This problem is since begenning.
please any1 guide me what settings to do. this is very much annoying.

I recently got myself home basic.
using only c drive and no other partitions are there.
problem is when i applied "show hidden files and folder" (this was first time
) , there were duplicate compressed files and folders of each and every thing present in "users".eg. (my computer/c drive/users/vipul/pictures)
same for every other media folder in "users".
So I deleted all duplicate files and now when i copy any file in these folders, again duplicate files get created. I have original antivirus s/w and there id no detection.
duplication problem prevails only in folders in users and nowhere else. this is i suppose since begening.
this is really annoying me up.
please any one help.
