disk manager is blank
I'm trying to reformat a new external hard drive. My system recognizes it in the "computer" section. The instructions I have say:
click on Start, right click on Computer, left click on Manage
in the management console, click on Storage and then Disk Management.
So far, so good.
Next it says that all of my devices should load, and that I should be able to select my drive and begin the partition procedure.
The problem: nothing loads. A footer says " connecting to virtual disk service", and then nothing.
How can I get this thing to work? All I'm trying to do is increase the file size on my new hard drive.
