post viral administrative disability
good morning/evening everyone.
first of all let me tell you tht i have two laptops at home, one running on vista and the other on xp.these use the same usb to transfer data. but since i use vista i want to fix it first.
so teh problem is tht about a month ago i noticed tht the FOLDER OPTION in the Control Panel wasnt there, which meant tht i could not access my hidden files, but i did not bother about it much.than i noticed that when i tried accessing "regedit" my computer would instantly and automatically restart, the same with "system restore" and also that when i hit ctrl+alt+del, the screen did not show the option of Task Manager. i googled a little and found out that there is a worm/virus that can do this sort of stuff so i scanned my whole system with AVG and there it was, an adware that was suppose to deny me access to administrative rights.
anyways after deleting the viral software, i still cant access the above mentioned programmes, but windows does not restart this time and only shows a message saying that the administer has disabled that option, eg. this is shown when i try accessing regedit
"registry editing has been disabled by your administrator"
i have seen loads of ways to correct this but they are all for xp, not sure if i should use them for vista, so please help.
also note tht when i access the properties of regedit,in Advanced Security Setting, it shows that a TRUSTEDINSTALLER has full rights while all the user have only 'read and execute' rights.
so please help, assure me that the virus is really gone and how do i bring back regedit, task manager, system restore and folder option.(ofcourse there might be more programmes that i cannot access that i still dont know about).
Thanking you for your in advance.
