Problem after update

Window Vista (home basic) doesn not start anymore after update.
The boot dvd does repair it for a little while but now it seems to be in an endless loop,after repairing it is starting, it is directly updating, even though i had switched this off. the file NTNOSKRNL.EXE seems to be damaged . Also the code 0xc 0000098 appears.
Is there a way to fix this, anyone....? XP did not have this problems
