Hi Steve,
Thankyou for your prompt response. I connect the ADSL to internet then the ethernet cable from that to the wireless router then to the desktop XP. My thought was that the laptop should recieve the "signal" ( I dont know the terminology) wirelessly. However I am aware now that there needs to be other things (these I dont know what are called) to the wireless router. The wireless router was unused and unopened when I recieved it. The package was sealed. It comes with the CD and instructions which I thought I could decipher, however thought wasn't enough. Again please be patient as I am a novice trying to be coherant. Thanks for any help.
I am now able to connect wirelessly with my laptop with internet connections but the XP desktop does not receive internet capabilitiy even though the connection is via wireless router and the ADSL router. Does that mean I need to have a network adapter for the desktop as well??? This is my first time at setting up a network (wireless) or wired so please be kind.
