Drivers Installation for vista..?

I newly installed windows vista Home Basic edition. But I have no previous experience doing this(with vista). After the installation I saw all drivers (Sound, VGA, ...) working properly without installation drivers with driver CD.(I watched a movie which was in avi format and picture quality was quite good.) But when I try to install some sftwares like Nero Premium 7, ... it says something about not compatible with drivers.(I have a DVD writer).

So my problems are

Do I need to install drivers anyway?
Is that problems coz of no driver installation?

(My Mother Board is Gigabyte GA945GMS2)

What is the make and model of your DVD writer,
