Windows Vista problem

Hey a friend of mine gave me his laptop because it woudlnt work anymore and im trying to fix it

Its a windows vista home premium

When i turn it on it says install operating system
so I downloaded a vista recovery disc and tried to install it but when i try to install it it tells methis
Window cannot open the required file D;-\Sources\Install.wim. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x80070002.

so I thout i downloaded a wrong recovery disc so I downloaded another one and it told me the same thing

Since i cant turn it on i dnt know how to fix that error code

does anybody know what can I do to fix it?
