Vista upgrade to Windows 7 problem
Hello,
I'm new to this forum. Thanks in advance for any help!
...some background:
Last month I was infected with c:\windows\explorer.exe <1424>: memory-00010000 Trojan horse Agent_R.XJ...what a mess. Attached itself to AVG and PDExplorer also. Did gobs of research and finally cleared it out, but (there's always a but) corrupted some Vista files.
This HP Pavilion came with Vista installed and Factory Image partition...no CD. Found a Windows Vista Repair .iso on MS's site but, (there it is again) when booting up on .iso CD gives msg: "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible". MBR possibly?
All of this is because when trying to upgrade to Windows 7 I get the msg. "Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer".
Been trying to resolve this for a month!
Help!
