start menu

my start menu remains to be blank. the menu part on the right side is there but the left side is just white blank. i know there used to be recently used programs there, saved programs... instead of the regular start menu the other option would be the classic start menu which works perfectly fine but i'd prefer the non-classic start menu. when i change the settings to have the start menu, it says ok and everything but once i check it, its blank. does anyone know how to fix the start menu?

I think you have something wrong with the start menu folder. Actually sometimes if the settings in the folder is changed then nothing displayed there, For that you can check the settings in the Task bar property or in the control panel.

do you mean the "Customize" button on the start menu properties? All the options seems to be fine. I even changed it to default settings and that didnt work either. The left side of the start menu is still blank. Any other suggestions?
