Offline Files over a VPN
I have vista Business. Offline Files and folders works fine in the office. All seems okay. I acn work offline or on line. When I connect via a VPN the Offline status continues to say OFFLINE. There seems no way to connect. In XP once the VPN connection came up network drives became available. What am I doing wrong...Any help much appreciated

Hi Chris,

welcome aboard.

Can you give me a few more details about the connection.

Are you dialling in or via broadband?
Are you logging on to a domain in work?
What type of VPN are you using? ( L2TP/IPsec..etc..see this from the networking tab on the VPN properties )

Any other details you have to hand as well.

Talk to you soon,

regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

re points below:

Are you dialling in or via broadband? Over Broadband, have an XP laptop which works just fine. Visata Laptop just refuses to see the drive mapping despite the VPN being connected. I can ping the server address no problem

Are you logging on to a domain in work? Yes, laptop is part of that domain, and when I am in the office it connect immediately and the sync status shows connected.

What type of VPN are you using? ( L2TP/IPsec..etc..see this from the networking tab on the VPN properties ) PPTP

Cheers

Chris

Chris,
when you go to connect does the domain appear on the window where you put in your username and password?

In Properties, on the Networking Tab is Client for Microsoft Networks installed and ticked and is IPv4 ticked?

Were you given any Advanced Security Settings like Data Encryption Protocols...like PAP or CHAP..etc..

we will get there soon,

regards

Steve
