Vista will not boot (NEW)
This isn't the black screen of death or endless reboot, it's the ENDLESS BOOT.
I have a Vista machine that boots "constantly", power on the machine, it gets to the "Microsoft Corporation" boot loader/green slider and will not go past that point. No error messages, nothing to indicate failure, just an ENDLESS BOOT. The slider/boot progress status isn't frozen, the machine will just not boot into Windows/logon screen.
What is weird is that you can boot into to safe mode fine, reboot and it will go right to the logon screen/normal mode. After that you can reboot as many times as you like and it will boot fine. However, if you turn the machine off and "cold boot" it, it is stuck in an ENDLESS BOOT.
This is a Sony Vaio laptop with SSD. I've unchecked all startup items with msconfig, flashed the BIOS and installed Vista SP2. Oh and checked for Rootkits/Viruses/Malware which resulted in minimal results.
Any info? Thanks
