Uninstalling pre-installed Microsoft Office 2007

Hi, my brother-in-law wants to uninstall Microsoft Office 2007 from his laptop since he has no intention of buying it.
We've tried uninstalling through Uninstall Programs and it gives him an error that says
"This patch package cannot be opened, verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it.
Contact application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"

I looked online for a solution to uninstalling Office and tried it, but wasn't successful.

Can anyone give me an idea on how to go about uninstalling this?

This is from microsoft. How to manually uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature
