windows update won't work

Windows update has stopped working, it asks me to update but it just takes me back to the update page again without updating. I do not see any error codes at all. Please help!

When you are trying to update are you using IE?

Try going to START, ALL PROGRAMS, and then WINDOWS UPDATE.

Tried that too but still no joy

Hmm odd. So you are able to get to your desktop. Are you sure you have a legit windows copy? When you tried that last step exactly what happened?

Yes it is legit, it was already installed when we bought it new. It runs as if it is updating but then it returns to the update window and asks you to update as if nothing has happened. If it gave me an error code it would be easier to solve but it gives nothing.
