Kb955430 hangs- can you send me some files please?

Hi, I'm one of the people who find KB955430 hangs around 90%, repeatedly reading

C:\Windows\servicing\Version\6.0.6001.18000

If you have Vista SP1, which you installed (rather than the manufacturer) I'd be really grateful if you could send me a copy of the content of that folder..

Background:
For months, this update has failed in the same way. Some others report the same. Without it, SP2 can't be installed.

I can't uninstall and reinstall SP1 'cos the laptop came with it- no Add-remove.

I'm in contact with MS, and they keep suggesting things I can't do- like uninstall SP1, install SP2.. even though I keep telling them I can't.

This hotfix seems to have a problem, so I'm looking for a workaround.. I've asked MS for these files, twice, but no comment.

English Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, SP1 up to date except KB955430.

If you can zip the files and give me a download link, that would be one way..

have you tried just downloading and saving it first???,then installing it,burn it to disc or flash drive,just an idea ,i already made a copy of each to disc,try turning of your antivirus when you install it

Hi, yes, I've done all the normal things. And I'm in touch with MS update support.. so far no help after about 7 messages as they suggest impossible things like install SP2 which you can't if this update fails.

Tried clean boot, tried manual install. Others report same symptoms elsewhere- it's not unique.

Reinstall is not an option: Vista doesn't support repair install:

So I'm looking for the content of that specific folder 'cos that's what the update is trying to read...

So far MS has ignored my questions on that...

If I can find a work-around, I can help others...

you say vista doesnt support repair install,can you do a full reinstall of your vista??can you reinstall a fresh from a recovery disc??
