Copy and paste

Hello members , I am posting here for the first time looking for a simple solution to what I thought would be an easy task.
I've been using Vista for the last couple of months but today I found out that I don't know how to cut and paste using Vista.
I shoot a lot of pictures but now I want to put them in tagged folders and I can only copy and paste but I can't cut and paste. In other words I want to cut a pic from one folder location to another .I've tried the copy and paste and that worked OK but when I went to delete the picture from source A (original folder) it deleted it all together...meaning from both locations ...from folder A(original)as well as destination folderin this case folder B(Destination folder).
Can someone supply me with the answer in windows xp, this was a breeze.

I am very new here, so I hope I can be of some help.

I cut a gif image from one file and copied it to another on my Compaq laptop driving Vista. I simply right-clicked on the image and then on 'Cut', then opened the receiving file, right-clicked and clicked on 'Paste'... no problem. It was gone from the original file and magically appeared in the receiving one.

I am thinking there may be a glitch in your particular program, so someone smarter than I can help you troubleshoot.

.................................................. ......................Well Muriel , thanks so much for posting a reply to my question. I just got in so after I settle in , I will try your suggestion. I hope it is as it sounds...in XP , I was also able to just highlight, right click and cut and paste elsewhere. I have gotten also some feedback suck as finding the picture and clicking on it and use the Send To feature or also use a photo editing program such as Photoshop or anything along those lines to use the tools that these programs utilize .
