usb headphones with windows vista not working

My headphones suddenly do not work with all applications and my mic has stopped working altogether. This has happened in the past two weeks . Any ideas what is up and how to fix it? I think it happened after a vista automatic update....

Just something to try if you haven't already is to try plugging them into different usb posts. I know Ive run into a mic not working and when i plugged it into the back of my computer insteads of the front port it worked..? Go figure. Something else is to check your Device manager and see if any of your USB ports are having problems.
