hourglass/spinning circle won't go away

Has anyone ever figured out how to make this stop? My brother noticed that it happened any time he was in Yahoo email. I logged in to his email account from my home computer to see if it was his PC. Now mine is doing the same thing. It's not on all URLs or apps - just Yahoo.

Does it happen all the time or just selected times with Yahoo? Perhaps it has to load the page or perhaps it is a problem on Yahoo's side of things. What browser are you using?

It only happens on Yahoo and seems to happen only on an open message. I went to the start menu folder and deleted a shortcut to "I.R.I.S. OCR Registration" and it stopped. However, overnight (with no reboot/restart) the shortcut was back and so was the problem. I've done some research on I.R.I.S. and understand that it has to do with my HP Photosmart printer. But, do I need the registration?

Generally you only have to register your printers when you want support of if it is a warranty thing. I would say its up to you if you want to or not, but either way if it will stop messing up your other tasks then do it.
