Can't browse to my user folder

I just tried to set up an ODBC connection to an Access database that is located under my user directory using the ODBC Datasource Administrator, and my user directory cannot be found in the browser. One can find Users under the C root directory, but Vista has done clever things with my user directory, so it doesn't appear anywhere. This problem shows up in lots of other situations. I need advice as to what I can do to allow my user directory to be listed in various browsers so I can find files in my directory.
