Windows Update ate my C partiton
Hi everyone, I just recently made the jump to Vista from XP and ran into a bit of an issue today.
Not really realizing the size of what I was asking for, I selected all of the languages from Windows Update and set them to download before heading off on my merry way to work this morning. Lo and behold, when I return I find that these updates have completely filled my 35gb partition I allocated to the OS.
No problem, I reboot and set all of them to uninstall via the regional settings in control panel. Windows claimed this would free up 12gb of space but even after rebooting and doing a disk cleanup (including the removal of my 2gb hibernation file and moving my 2gb of page file elsewhere) I've only been able to make it back up to 11gb total. I also went poking around in Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download thinking that maybe the files were still being stored locally but didn't turn up anything really huge.
Anyone have any ideas why I might have all this extra stuff still filling up my partition? What should I expect for free space on a drive with nothing but Ultimate SP1 on it? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
