updates fail in Vista Home Premium

Most updates constantly fail to install apart from Windows Defender.
Error Message : 80070002

Have tried many fixes from different sources without success though would be the first to admit I like things simple and am not too computer literate. Help please!

I had the same problem with Vista Ultimate. After trying many things I had to re-install Vista, specifically Custom install. This will leave all your data files intact. However you will need to reinstall all drivers and programs. After doing this my Vista Ultimate runs much better than received from the factory.
