windows media player 11 will not open

hi, i am having problems with wmp11 on vista as it will not open at all, i have previously tried end processes but still not working and tried to re-install wmp11 but as it is intergrated on my vista it wont allow me to re-install or install an older version of wmp.
i have slao checked all of my updates and there is nothing to suggest anything that might be interfering with wmp.
i have even contemplated a total re-install of vista but then another problem.... i bought my pc with vista pr-install, an have no installation disc.

please can someone help? hannibal

try to put the computer in clean boot
start->msconfig
under general tab uncheck load startup items
then under services tab put a check in hide all microsoft services and disable all the items there
restart the computer
and try these to commands from command prompt elevated mode

regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

then try opening the wmp
if it works then put the system in normal start up

hi prabhanjan thanks for that but it wmp still did not open, its driving me nuts.
