Cannot delete files/ folders

I seem to be having a major issue deleting folders off my 1TB Maxtor one touch external hard drive. It keeps saying that I don't have permission to do it when I am the one who created the folder. I have checked the permissions and it says that I am the owner and I also have full permissions. I have tried to delete it through DOS as a user and also as an admin. I disabled the UAC and that has not solved my problem either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

update on deleting files. I ended up pulling my Maxtor drive out of its enclosure and put it in my computer, reformatted it then reinstalled Vista Ultimate. Not that big of a deal since I just had movies and music on it before. Once I reinstalled I immediatly disabled the UAC again and so far I have not had any issues. Now I have a 1tb C drive that works without a problem. I think the issue before was with the software that was pre loaded on the drive was not completly compatable with Vista Ultimate.
