Software will not autorun from CD
I'm running Vista Home Premium on an Acer Aspire M1100. I've noticed a new problem. When I put software disc into the cd drawer, the software will not autorun to the welcome screen or installation. However, when I put a DVD or game disc in, they work just fine. It's just software discs that will not automatically run when I close the drawer.
I haven't attempted to install drivers/software for any new hardware for quite awhile. I last installed a program called Bluebeam for PDFs about three months ago. But yesterday when I wanted to install a wireless adapter and a webcam, neither software/driver would install from the disc and I had to go online and download the software to flash drive and install it from there.
There have been several Windows Vista updates and other programs downloaded and installed without a cd with no problems. Could something have changed in my Vista settings that is now interfering with software being installed from a cd? I've already checked the Default Program settings and have it set to run software automatically but it just sits there and does nothing after I close the drawer.
One more thing, the computer was recently moved 2000 miles from Texas to Virginia but was treated with extra caution and rode up front of a moving truck with me the entire way. I don't thing it could be something caused by transporting it.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
