Monitor display won't revert after connecting laptop to TV

Hey,

Last night I hooked up my laptop to the TV with an S-video cable conncection and everything worked fine, but when I disconnected it the display is still set as the kind of stretched/large display it changes itself to when it's hooked up to the TV, no matter how many times I shut it down and restart it, and I have no idea how to get it back to its original settings. It's driving me craaazy and while I thought running a system restore might revert it, I have that stupid disk check problem (it won't run on reboot) and that's a whole other problem I don't want to deal with right now. Any suggestions?

(Running Vista, obviously, on a Toshiba laptop.)
