All shortcuts, folders and files missing names...

Have a Vista Home Basic system that appears to have all the current patches. Running SAV Corp 10.2 and also has Adaware 2008, both up to date. Scans come up clean.

All desktop icons have the Date Accessed as the description. In Explorer, all folders and files have no description and all columns are not accessible on the right side of Explorer window.

In the Control Panel, several icons are missing, including Add/Remove, Network Connections, System, and User Accounts. I can run the Add/Remove from the Run function.

On the desktop, unable to right-click My Computer and launch Manage. Same with My Network Places.

Is there a resolution for this?

Found a few posts on how to hide icons and so forth, but none had any effect on this issue. I was able to download and run the Vista Service Pack 1. After logging in, the shortcuts, icons, folders and files all had the correct names. Missing Control Panel icons were restored, except Add/Remove Programs. I can still run that from a command line though. I'm sure there's a specific fix. If anyone has resolved this a different way, please post!
