Can't change folder name
I am running Vista Ultra 64 bit. I am an administrator. I open Windows Explorer and select a folder called "C:\Users\Matt\Downloads\Avast", which is a folder I created yesterday. I right click and choose "Rename" and attempt to rename the folder. An error window comes up entitled, "Destination Folder Access Denied". Contents of the error window are: "You need permission to perform this action".
So then I right click on the Avast folder and choose "Properties". I uncheck the "Read Only" box and click OK, then select "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files", then OK all the way out. Still cannot change name of folder, and when I go back to "Properties", the "Read Only" box is checked again.
But I just figured it out and fixed it... just now. I'll post this message anyway in case someone else is having the problem. If I go up to the parent folder ("C:\Users\Matt\Downloads"). and change the properties on that folder by unchecking its "Read only" box and checking the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files", that fixes the problem and I am able to change the name of the Avast folder.
Boy, Microsoft needs to hire some people to take a look at their user interfaces. Definitely not user friendly.
