How to show internet icons on Desktop

Howdy all,

I have what hopefully is a simple question. When I go to an internet page and save the link to favourites is shows me a little icon. Now when I used XP and I sent that shortcut to desktop the icon of that site would show. With VISTA I can only get the generic 'e' icon showing.

Can someone tell me if there is a security setting or something that is preventing me from showing these on the desktop

Hi, I'm new here & I had the exact same question. Was anyone able to tell you how to do it?

G'day all,

Found out how to fix this 'simple' problem.

Right click on the desktop, then select view and choose 'classic icons' and the boom. It goes back to normal. Go figure.

Thanks for the info, but I am already on "classic icons". & All I can get is the generic e short cut for all my sites.
