Unable to Install Office 2007 Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1)
The installation fails every time with error 518. I attempted to use Word, but it won't open due to the unfinished update. It tries to configure Office, then gives error code 1317, and says that it cannot create a necessary folder, and tells me to verify that the path exists in the system, etc. When I attempt to go into the folder, the computer says it does not exist; when I try to change the permissions, it lists off several components that are either corrupted or don't exist.
I tried removing office completely, both with Add/Remove and with the actual program disk (I tried to repair it with the disk as well), and the same error stops this process as well. I tried to download the update from the microsoft website as well, but it has the same problem.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this, either to remove the program so I can reinstall Office completely, or to finish the installation of the update?
