Has any one had a positive experience using Vista?
Since I am asking about your experience, I thought I would list some of mine.
I have been struggling with my brand new laptop and Vista Home Premium now for 2 months. Vista tells me the computer has a WEI of 4.0 I hear that 6 is the maximum for hardware to date so 4.0 is on the positive side of reasonable. Over time I expect the WEI will get higher with newer hardware.
The operating system (not the computer) stops responding for no reason. Numlock still works and mouse moves but no interactive action takes place with operating system objects. Hard reset is the only option.
Frequently logon will not work. The logon prompt works but the session does not complete startup. Eventually the screen saver will start when this mode occurs. Hard reset is the only option.
Basically I find the performance terrible (unresponsive in IE, Unresponsive in email, unresponsive in word, barely copes in games.) So I put a 2GB Rediboost SD card in the SD slot. Now I have a machine that takes 10-15 minutes to settle down building a non-persistent cache every time I start my computer. I have percieved no "Boost" for my outlay.
On the whole I think the WEI index should be -15 not 4.0 because my Experience with Vista has been woefull. I never use Aero and the eye-candy does a poor job of covering a flawed process/memory/IO architecture in a bloated kernel.
