Restoring to Previous State Problem - No Points?
My friend accidentally sent me a virus recently and what I wanted to do was to restore my computer settings to the previous day. I have Windows Vista 64-bit and have only had it for about 2 weeks. I opened "System Restore" and it basically said that I didn't create any restore points... I thought it did those automatically but apparently not. What can I do now to restore my computer to a previous state. I don't want to format my computer I just finished getting all the settings and all the programs the way I wanted them after all this time! Thanks in advance.

No restore points prior to last boot
I have a similar problem that may be the same problem. My Vista sytem is Home Premium 32-bit, I have no dual-boot with XP (or anything else) & gobs of disk space. I say this because the online surfing of my problem brings replies that seem to insist I have dual-boot or not enough free space. Also I don't believe I have had any viruses -- my anti-virus & fiewall system is very tight.

What happens to me is that my restore points, whether manual or automatic, disappear on re-boot. This means that I never have a restore point older than the last boot. Never shutting down the computer doesn't seem like a practical answer to the problem. Yours is the first I have seen that acknowledges such a problem. I wish I could find an answer.
