Hard disc runs & runs in Vista Basic
Hi

I have just found the forum and hope someone can help me with a problem I have.

I am not very technically minded and only use PC for internet, emails and a couple of genealogy programs (& word etc).

Recently I have noticed the hard disc seems to race loudly, almost most of the time.

I think it must be doing damage ??

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thank you

mirroring backup
I don't know the answer to your question but I have a clue. I found the same thing happening on my machine. I went in to Task Manager and in the Performance tab I clicked on Resource Monitor. I looked at the hard drive window and saw that the C drive was operating at 100% continuously making a mirror backup. I searched for the program that was running on the internet and found that uniblue register booster recommended not disabling this feature. As far as I can see, since I backup using third party software, I have no use for Vista creating a mirror of my C drive and it monopolizes the CPU and disk writing resources.
