Cascading thumbnails
When I first installed Vista and had multiple windows open, if did an Alt-Tab, I could see all the windows in a 3-D, cascading stack. Now I only see them lined up in a row. Boring. It's so .... "XP or W95!"

I must have changed a setting but I don't remember now which one it was.

TIA,

Tom

Tom,
how are you? Thanks for joining.

To switch back to Flip3D do the following:

Go into Group Policy then... Local Computer Policy \ User\Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Desktop Window Manager

Then find "Do not allow Flip3D invocation" and untick or disable it.
Then find "Do not allow desktop composition" and disable it.

Now when you press Alt-Tab you should get your Flip3D.

hope this helps,
regards
Steve

Problem Solved!!!
Actually, I read your posting more carefully and you are pushing " ALT + TAB", theres your problem right there. You need to push "START + TAB", ("START" is the windows logo button, located between the "ctrl and alt" KEYS! HOLD THE WINDOWS KEY (while still holding the windows key down) THEN PRESS THE TAB KEY, as many times as you wish to cascade through the windows. HOPE THIS HELPED, feel free to contact me via AIM at shawna099 if you have any further questions.

Ha ha. I'll give you guys and gals credit for longevity. My original post was probably sometime in early 2007 and now I finally get my first reply in mid-2008. Seriously, thanks for the replies and not forgetting about me.

But, I solved my problem a long time ago when Sony finally came out with XP drivers "Due to popular demand" for my VAIO.

I am convinced that I somehow got a bum installation on Vista because it was just horrible from the first. The rest of the world would not have put up with Vista as long as I did. My solution was to buy a new hard disk and install XP. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings in this Vista community, but I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have XP back. I now LOVE my Sony Vaio instead of cursing it daily. The computer is much more snappy and I have virtually zero problems like I had before.

But, thanks again for the replies. I'm sure I will be back to Vista in the coming years.

Tom
