dvd drive won't stop spinning

running ultimate x64 on an asus f3ka
i can't find a place to change settings so that the drive stops spinning, ever.
once the disc has been read, it keeps spinning and spinning...

Would you post some system information? Manufacturer and any information you have on drive itself might be helpful.

it's a vista configuration issue, not a hardware issue. gentoo doesn't do it, the short time that i had xp on here, it didn't happen.

I'm running Vista Business x64 on a Dell Latitude E6400. My DVD drives spins constantly even when I'm not using it.

My search indexing options are all shut off. I do not have any anti virus software running.

As far as I know there is no program that would be accessing my DVD rom drive, unless I'm overlooking something.
