Repairing instead of reinstalling Vista possible?
Hi, this is my first post so be gentle please.
I installed the SP1 update for Vista, but found I could no longer use the media center, it kept saying the digital tv card could not be found, (it worked fine before the update). I have tried putting the drivers back in, and eventually removed the SP1 update but it is still the same. I have an AverMedia DB-T 777 which has previously worked fine, and still does on XP, (I have a dual boot).
My question is can I repair the installation in some way, or will I need a fresh install to put it right, (I hope I do not have to do this and have to reinstall all my programs).
thanks in advance.

Well what I suggest you do is attempt a driver rollback. Follow this guide and make sure you read through the first section:
How to identify a buggy device driver on Windows Vista | Vista Rewired

You can also attempt a driver upgrade. If none of these options work and you really want to repair Vista, just insert your CD and you should be able to repair it.

Might I suggest that if you have System Restore on, you can try to restore your system to an earlier date. Here's a comprehensive guide on System Restore:
Working with System Restore in Windows Vista | Vista Rewired

Let me know if you need anything.
