hello and help!
Hi everyone, i received my new dell inspiron 1525 on wednesday all complete with vista and i am having a lot of problems
live messenger being the first. I have the latest version with the update it told me i needed on vista and it lets me log in i'll start conversations all fine but messages people are sending me are simply not showing up. I've tried with different contacts and also signed in as different people and it still happens. I tried downloading aol instant messenger and the exact same thing happened. I am currently using the windows live web messenger which seems to work but is not like using the proper version of msn.
Second problem is java chat rooms. I have the latest version of java downloaded and the necessary updates but sometimes I can't get into java chat rooms at all and when i can it works for about thirty seconds and then no messages appear. Sometimes it kicks me out and says my java environment is interrupted or something.
Lastly and it only seems to be on this website that every time i click a link the green bar at the bottom moves to full and says done but the page doesn't change until I click escape. Very odd!
Please help me,
Mariam.

Hi Mariam,

with Vista a lot of programs need Administrator rights to run properly.

Please try and run the programs you are having a problem with by Right Clicking on the Icon and select "Run As Administrator" from the menu.

Also can you have a look in the Event Viewer and see if there are any errors in there.

Let us know how it goes,

With regards to the pageload problem, I too had that problem but thought it was just me. I have fixed it now... damn gremlins.. Thanks for letting me know about it, much appreciated

regards,

Steve

Hi Maz,

when you go to run Messenger, instead of clicking on the icon hold the mouse cursor over the icon and click the right button on the mouse.

A menu should appear. Near the top of the menu you will see "Run As Administrator". Click on this option and will will have administrator access to Messenger.

It looks like something is seriously wrong if you have that many errors. If I was you I would ring Dell up and tell them about the errors you have.

Hope this helps,

regards

Steve
