Cannot see windows vista program
Hi, I was using my computer and in order to view something I had to download Java. I did this then let my computer install updates before it shut down. Since then it will not work! When I start it up it takes ages, then there is a computer in the middle of the screen with a magnifying glass moving around it. If I press the windows button on the keyboard I can see the desktop behind this screen but cannot access it. I have tried starting it in safe mode also but no use. The hard drive seems to be running something all the time. I cannot even access the internet to run a virus check on it. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks, Prettypink

Hello PrettyPink,

welcome to Vistaheads

If you cannot boot up in safe mode then there is something serious...

Can you leave the PC on for a long time to see if it "becomes" ok. It might be trying to install a lot of files...etc.. and is taking it's time

If you still have a problem then you will have to do a Repair of Vista,

regards

Steve
