New external HD, setting default picture folder to there. Problems with that
I tried to set my photos folder to one I already created on the external HD.

I clicked on something that said something about having two folders on the PC HD.. but ignored it because I thought it'd override the few photos I had on the external.

Anyway, now that I copied all pictures over to the external every time I delete the pictures from the PC the ones in the external get deleted too, and vice versa.

Why? Why do you taunt me, Vista?

Hi Clayton,

the only thing I can think of at the moment is that Replication is setup.

To turn off file and folder replication you need to Turn Off the Windows DFS Replication Service, not 100% sure though.

Try this....

To enable or disable replication for a specific connection

1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click DFS Management.

2. In the console tree, under the Replication node, click the replication group that contains the connection you want to edit.

3. In the details pane, click the Connections tab.

4. Do one of the following:

• To disable a connection, right-click the connection, and then click Disable.

• To enable a connection, right-click the connection, and then click Enable.

Let us know how you get on,

regards

Steve

A bit of a snag (I'm using vista home premium, I believe, if that matters at all)

When I go to Administrative Tools I get this list:

Computer Management (checked there.. didn't see much of interest)
Data Sources (ODBC)
Event Viewer
iSCSI Initiator
Memory Diagnostics Tool
Reliability and Performance Monitor
Services
System Configuration
Task Scheduler
Windows Firewall with Advanced Security

I don't see anything related to DFS Management.
