Hi tia,

from Microsoft, for this update....

Quote:
If the Msxml4.dll file is locked, the file may not be updated when you apply security update 936181. To work around this issue, use the following commands to uninstall Msxml4.dll:

MsiExec.exe /uninstall {37477865-A3F1-4772-AD43-AAFC6BCFF99F} /passive

Del %windir%\system32\msxml4.dll
Then try and do the updates again

Those 2 command have to be typed in a Command Prompt. Click on Start button. In the Search box, type cmd. The Command Prompt will show up in the search results. Right click on Command Prompt icon and select Run as administrator.

Let us know how you get on,

regards

Steve

Steve,
thanks for the instructions. but it says access denied
when i type the last command. i did look in help and it tells you how to get permission for stuff like this BUT i got lost in all it. it's gotta be a easier way to get permission?
mind walking me thru it
i even tried in safe mode same thing. i saw a box in the advance option somewhere for special permission but wouldn't let me check it
tia

Hi tia,

did you right click on the Command Prompt icon and select Run as administrator? This should give you access.

regards

Steve

Hi tia,

I allways love a challenge...

Lets have a look at this from another angle.

can you once again try an update. Wait a few minutes and then open the file C:\Windows\Windows Update.log and post the lines from the latest update. Date and time should be on the left of each line in the log.

regards

Steve
