duplicate files

Got myself a new pc before crimbo........so invested in one of those Belkin transfer usb thingys.....thing is somehow....and dont ask me how.....I have 2 of everything.....and I mean everything........I had literally hundreds of pics on my old puta and now I have twice as much......Now there is only 1 folder for each date/subject etc but inside each folder there will be 2 of everything
It's also happened with music files....I now have duplicates of every song.
Is there any way that I can get rid of the duplicates or do I have to click on every individual copy and delete it....please tell me there is a quick fix for this as it's driving me crazy clicking and deleting individual photos ans songs

if a song is called say SONG1.mp3 what would one of the duplicates be called. Is it called Copy of SONG1.mp3 or something like that?

yes mostly Steve....I'm not saying some of them were not already on there mind you....Majority of duplicates especially in the case of the pictures dont have the word copy on them just the same name with a (1) after eg there will be one called 100-3489 and one called 100-3489(1)

Hi Lorraine,

try this... do a search for *(1)* on your USB Memory Stick Drive.

It should show up all the files with (1) at the end.

You should then be able to select them all and do a delete from the search results box,
