Registry permission issues
I'm working through a problem with a vendor on a software product that worked fine until i did a product upgrade. the product integrates with office 2007 and part of the install process asks for all windows apps to be closed. this is where the problem starts. the product install continues to loop around the idea of closing the windows apps. when i look at the registry I can see entries for the product but the do not show any contents. when i try to access any of the entries i get an error message 'access denied". i try to view permissions, but am informed "you do not have permission to view the current permission settings for <registry name here> but you can make changes". ok.. fair enough, i try to make changes but am advised by another error message that I don't have permission to make changes. I am the only user on my system and have admin rights. any thoughts on why these entries are locked out? thanks in advance!
