Vista Boot Takes 30 minutes

Hi All

I had to replace my HDD due to a failure in my laptop. The original HDD was 160GB but I replaced it with a 250GB.
I re-installed windows vista using 2 recovery cds sent to me by HP.
The first cd is the o/s and 2nd one is drivers etc for my HP 6720S laptop.

It takes about 30 mins to boot to the windows desktop, and about the same time to shutdown but it dont fully shutdown and requires me to switch off manually.

the event vewier has a embedded controller dien not respond with the specified timeout period error.
Does the BIOS need to be upgraded current version is F.0D

Well i was facing the same problem , then I talked with a technician he suggested me to update my bios and all the drivers.I did everything according him and my problem was solved you may have a try at this , thank you , take care .

Thank you for your response and willingness to extend help to me, but I'm an amateur searchers and if I get it asked me for a description of the procedure step by step how your problem solved.
