Missing HDD
I am running Vista business and have a problem with vista NOT recognizing my external HDD.I have gone into Control Panel/Administrative tools/Computer management/Device manager and the HDD is there however when I go to Disk Management I get NOT INITIALIZED I then INITIALIZE IT AND GET UNALLOCATED.I right click on unallocated and get NEW SIMPLE VOLUME.I click on that and the simple wizard appears,I click on next twice and assign a letter and then format to NTFS.Working in back gound icon appears as the bar changes from black to blue for several minutes THEN THIS APPEARS:::THE OPERATION FAILED TO COMPLETE BECAUSE THE DISK MANAGEMENT VIEW IS NOT UP TO DATE.REFRESH THE VIEW BY USING THE REFRESH TASK.IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS(WHICH IT HAS MANY TIMES) CLOSE THE DISK MANAGEMENT CONSOLE THEN RESTART D/M OR RESTART COMPUTER.
Then its ground hog day all over again.Apart from getting rid of VISTA PLEASE what do I do??
